2017 World Series of Poker -- Michael Phelps Plays $10,000 Tag Team May 31, 2017 The first open event of the 2017 World Series of Poker is the $10,000 no-limit hold’em tag team championship, and there are plenty of big names in the field but none bigger than the most decorated Olympian in history Michael Phelps. The 23-time gold Medalist first played at the WSOP back in 2013, and has been participating in live poker events since 2008. In this event he is part of a 4-player team that includes captain Jeff Gross, three-time bracelet winner Antonio Esfandiari and two-time WSOP $50k players championship winner Brian Rast.
