Bachelor Party, Wedding, Online Poker & Rivers Casino

Well I have been extremely busy since I got home from Vegas. I wanted to organize my bachelor party so everything went smooth and I did what I wanted to do the whole wknd. If that sounds selfish at all it is…haha..no jk…everyone will have fun with the plans I made. All my boys are excited to get away and have some fun this wknd. We have dinner reservations both days and tables reserved for both nights at clubs. I couldn’t be happier that everyone is coming, which will make it a lot of fun. I had to pull some strings for comp rooms and do some coordinating so that expenses are down and there are less excuses about not coming. Can’t wait!

Wow…the wedding…like 3 weeks away…and man do a lot of small but important things come up fast…we spent a good few hours doing the seating arrangements the other day…organizing the invites that came back (and texting and calling the ones who decided to make us do extra work by not sending theirs back or not putting a name???)…the food orders…ordering candy/napkins/programs etc. Also working with the DJ on a song list as well as the bride/parents, groom/parents and first dance songs…coordinating with the wedding party for the rehearsal dinner times…getting the gifts for them…hotel rooms that people waited til last minute to book and so on…a ton of stuff…but we are having fun and are definately excited about it…I just dont want Kristen to be stressed the day of…so I really want everything done asap. Anyway I am sure there will be another blog about that but for now it’s just a bunch of running around and organizing that has kept both of us busy. It is getting so close, it is kind of crazy…

Online Poker…well before I left for Vegas I was playing quite a bit online and then in Vegas I didn’t play that many sessions and really wasn’t in the mood when I did fire up a few screens I quit soon after. Yesterday I decided to play a full Sunday schedule and I remembered real quick how stressful it really is to play a lot of tables/tourneys…especially Sundays! I can’t say I played my A game all day…I certainly didn’t…I haven’t played in a while and I wasn’t on point…I ran good in about 3 out of 50 tourneys and didn’t have any final tables and was the exact bubble in 2 of the last 3 of the night…that was fun…and the very last one I was the Final Table bubble in 10th…uggg…frustrating and stressful but standard…I know my boy Jason posted a blog yesterday that is causing quite the stir on the forums and the internet but we have all been there…we have all at some point or another considered quitting online poker or claiming that it is rigged for whatever reason. I spoke to him for a while yesterday on it and explained to him that there has been plenty of times where over the course of a day or 2 days of ridiculous amounts of bad beats or lost races or run bad happened and I was at the point where I just couldn’t handle it or believe it was real…however this happens to everyone at some point or another(atleast most people…even the ones who everyone thinks run so good)…its just typical for online poker to be extremely high variance and sometimes its really hard to accept that…especially in these ridiculous super turbos and even sitngos…mtt’s is the only thing I make any profit on yet I continue to waste time on sitngos when I have a window of an hour or two to jam some online poker in…even though I can not win at online sitngos in the long run and I know that…not sure why…but it is what it is…I make my $ at mtt’s online and if I stick to those I know I will win…and I do…but I also have the downswings like everyone else…and sometimes those are the toughest to get through without thinking that something isn’t 100% true with online poker…Anyway…thats my 2 cents on it and I don’t really want to get into it any deeper than that…it comes down to this…its a debate like politics…you can argue til the cows come home…you can’t change it and you are always going to have people on both sides…everyone is certainly entitled to their opinion though.

Rivers Casino in Da Burgh! Wow…I am extremely excited about this…15 minutes from my house…my own legal poker room 24 hours a day! What a beautiful room it is too…I went the other day to check it out and sit for a little while and play some cash. I was amazed to see that I already know half of the dealers and the floor because they all came from Mountaineer Casino…poor Mountaineer…I used to frequent that place but they never advertised and there just wasn’t enough action there and certainly now there won’t be…I can see why the whole staff left. However, that makes it run very smooth at Rivers…Bruce is the head guy…Sammy is also in charge of the room and great floor with Scott, Leslie and the rest of the crew…and some great dealers including my friend Brian Devine. Now they definately have some small things to change/work on…but that was expected…its only been open for a few weeks. My friend Jim Weaver did something really nice for me my first time there…he told the floor people to announce me and my finish in the main event…and they announced me and welcomed me home to Pittsburgh and as I stood up, 24 tables of players clapped for me…it was actually a pleasant surprise and very humbling. I hope to work with Rivers a lot actually and I will certainly be playing there when I am not on the road…so if you are around, please introduce yourself and see you at the tables!
