Sheldon Adelson, owner of the casino with Las Vegas’ largest poker room, told an audience at Yeshiva University in New York City on Tuesday that the United States should detonate a nuclear bomb in an Iranian desert.
Adelson is one of the most prominent voices on the topic of Iran’s nuclear developments.
As Time Magazine pointed out, Adelson said the bomb would kill “maybe a couple of rattlesnakes, and scorpions, or whatever…Then you say, ‘See! The next one is in the middle of Tehran. So, we mean business. You want to be wiped out? Go ahead and take a tough position and continue with your nuclear development.’”
Adelson is the owner of Las Vegas Sands Corp., one of the largest casino firms in the world.
The billionaire is also firmly against online poker in the U.S. He recently commissioned a survey to show that legalizing online poker was unpopular in four states.
Despite his efforts, online poker is making a return to the country.
