A rookie cornerback for the Cincinnati Bengals was the victim of an armed robbery during a motel poker game on Monday in West Virginia, according to reports.
The Herald-Dispatch reported that Corey Tindal, who played college football at Marshall, was playing poker at a Super 8 Motel with a friend and two others when one of the men Tindal only knew by a nickname pulled out a gun, according to police. The men allegedly told Tindal and his friend to get to the ground and relinquish their valuables. During this process, Tindal was twice hit over the head by the man’s gun, according to police.
He apparently wasn’t seriously injured, as he took to his Twitter this week to say how lucky he was, though he didn’t mention the robbery specifically.
In addition to the theft of their cell phones and car keys, more than $2,400 in cash was stolen, police said. Authorities are still searching for the suspects.
Tindal and his friend reportedly had been playing poker with the two men the previous day. The Cabell County Sheriff said that Tindal won’t face illegal gambling charges.
