Kahle Burns Wins Second Bracelet Of The 2019 World Series of Poker Europe

Australian poker pro Kahle Burns is on a roll at the World Series of Poker Europe. Burns captured his second WSOP gold bracelet within a week of winning his first. Burns defeated a field of 179 entries to take down the 2019 WSOPE €2,500 short deck no-limit hold’em event just four days after securing the €25,500 high roller title. Burns earned $113,036 USD for the win, bringing his career live tournament earnings to more than $6.1 million.

“It’s been like a whirlwind week,” Burns told WSOP reporters after coming out on top. “Two bracelets in a week. It’s crazy. Lucky enough to win one live tournament in a week, now I’ve won two in a week, it’s quite fortunate.”

In addition to the money and the bracelet, Burns was also awarded 468 Card Player Player of the Year points as the champion of this event. This was Burns’ ninth final-table finish and third title of 2019, bringing his year-to-date earnings to $2,906,173. With 3,978 points earned so far, Burns now sits in 14th place in the 2019 POY race standings, which are sponsored by Global Poker.

The tournament drew a total of 171 entries, creating a prize pool equivalent to $434,138 USD. By the time the field was narrowed down to just seven players remaining, Burns sat in the lead with 2,171,000. Felix Schulze was the only other player above 2 million in chips.

World Series of Poker main event final tablist Pierre Neuville was knocked out when his flopped trips lost out to the turned straight of Manig Loeser. The money got in with Neuville needing to improve to a full house to stay alive in the tournament. He earned $12,142 USD as the seventh-place finisher when he failed to catch up on the river.

The next player to git the rail was Oshri Lahmani. His pocket kings couldn’t hold up against the AK of Schulze. An ace on the river sent Lahmani packing with $16,388 USD for his deep run. Vladimir Peck got his last chips in with 98 and found himself at risk against the JJ of Burns. Peck picked up plenty of outs, with a pair of nines and a flush draw heading into fifth street. He failed to improve any further and was eliminated in fifth place ($22,693 USD).

Federico Anselmi picked up AK and got all-in against the A10 of Schulze. The German flopped trip tens and rivered a full house to send Anselmi to the rail in fourth place ($32,220 USD).

Despite scoring that knockout, Schulze was the next to find himself at risk. He ended up all-in with 98 up against the 108 of Burns. The board ran out QJJ96 to give Burns a straight. Schulze took home $46,879 USD as the third-place finisher.

Burns started heads-up play with nearly a 2.5:1 chip advantage over German poker pro Manig Loeser, who was at his 11th final table of the year. On just the second hand of the final showdown, all of the chips got in preflop with Loeser holding KJ to Burns’ AJ. The AQ797 board saw Burns make aces and sevens to secure the pot and the title. Loeser was awarded $69,851 USD and 390 POY points as the runner-up finisher. He climbed into eighth place in the 2019 POY race as a result of his latest deep run.
