The Indiana Lottery announced that it will pay out $5,000 tickets that were won due to an error in the game.
According to a report from Fox19.com, about 600 players who thought they won $5,000 in a new scratch-off will have their wins honored.
“Throughout this investigation, it has been our main goal to identify the specific issue and provide a reasonable remedy for our loyal players,” Hoosier Lottery Executive Director Sarah Taylor said in a statement.
“We believe strongly in providing fun and entertaining games for our players. In this circumstance, the execution of the game did not rise to the high expectations we set for the Hoosier Lottery.”
The error came in the $20 Golden Jackpot Fast Play game. The game launched March 20. Players of the Fast Play game experienced “difficulty confirming their winning tickets soon after the game’s launch,” prompting an investigation by the Lottery.
The game product came from IGT Global Solutions Corp.
It’s unclear how many of the roughly 600 impacted tickets will be redeemed. Anyone impacted by the error is encouraged to visit HoosierLottery.com for more information on how to redeem their ticket.
