Another day, another guarantee-smashing event at the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP). Last night's event in the PokerStars WCOOP, event No. 17 in the 23-event series, was the a sixhanded no-limit hold'em event with a $300 buy-in (with $20 entry fee). The tournament had a $400,000 guarantee but its prize pool was more than double that at $861,900 when 2,873 entrants bought in.

Barry Greenstein Barry "barryg1" Greenstein was the longest-lasting Team PokerStars member in the tournament, although he busted out fairly far from the final table in 86th place ($1,551).

When it got down to the final table and the last six players, the blinds were at such a comfortable level that even the shortest stack, jejune524, had almost 18 times the big blind. The chip leader at the table, PeachyMer, had more than 120 times the big blind. The average stack was close to 60 big blinds. That lenient blinds structure set the tone for what would be a three and a half hour-long final table.

After three players had been eliminated, it was PeachyMer, pape85, and pes4fans still left stading. The three players eventually wound up with relatively even chip stacks. PeachyMer spent a good, long while on a survival rollercoaster threehanded. PeachyMer's chip stack was rising and dipping like a sine curve until pape85 finally pushed all in preflop with K-J. Pes4fan woke up with queens and called. The queens held up and pape85 was out in third place ($62,919).

Pes4fans had the chip lead going into heads up play, with a 2-1 chip advantage. He furthered his lead to 3-1 after dealmaking negotiations were quickly nixed by PeachyMer. Pes4fans closed out the tournament when, after smooth-calling all of PeachyMer's bets until the board read Q-3-3-A-6, he called PeachyMer's all in on the river. PeachyMer showed A-Q for top two pair and pes4fans held 5-3 for a flopped trip treys.

PeachyMer collected $98,946 for second place while pes4fans raked in the entire $167,553 first-place payday for winning the tournament. Pes4fans also won a coveted gold WCOOP bracelet for taking down the event.

The final results were:
  1. pes4fans - $167,553.36
  2. PeachyMer - $98,946.12
  3. pape85 - $62,918.70
  4. AcEGoDD - $37,061.70
  5. Pillars - $19,823.70
  6. jejune524 - $11,204.70
