WSOP -- Brian Lemke Wins Event No. 15

Brian Lemke came from behind in the final heads-up match against Fabian Quoss at the final table of event No. 15 ($5,000 no-limit hold’em) to win his first World Series of Poker gold bracelet in the early hours of June 9. Quoss took a nearly 4-1 chip lead into the final battle, but Lemke fought back and then charged to a $692,658 victory.

Other tough players at the final table included Thomas Keller, Mike Sowers, Liya Gerasimova, and Isaac Baron. David “The Dragon” Pham was the final-table bubble boy, just missing his seventh WSOP final table. The final day began with 17 players who returned at noon, and it took just over 14 hours to crown Lemke the comeback champion.

David Pham Eliminated in 10th Place ($47,501), and Christian Iacobellis Eliminated in Ninth Place ($66,403)

David Pham moved in for his last 155,000 in middle position, and Isaac Baron moved all in from the button to isolate.

Instead, Christian Iacobellis called all in from the small blind.

Pham showed K Q, Iacobellis showed A K and Baron showed 10 10.

The board came J 8 6 7 5, and Baron’s tens took out two players, bringing his stack to 2,200,000.

Billy Kopp Eliminated in Eighth Place ($75,115)

Billy Kopp moved all in for his last 75,000, and both Fabian Quoss and Thomas Keller made the call. The flop came 7 5 4, and Quoss bet 75,000, allowing Keller to fold.

Quoss showed J J, and Kopp was behind with Q 9. The turn and river came K 6, and Kopp was eliminated.

Isaac Baron Eliminated in Seventh Place ($88,784)

Isaac Baron moved all in for his final 210,000 under the gun, and three players called him down. All three live players checked down a board of Q J 6 3 5 before Fabian Quoss turned over Q 10. Everyone else at the table mucked, including Baron, who was eliminated in seventh place.

Danny Illingworth Eliminated in Sixth Place ($109,871)

Danny Illingworth moved all in for 685,000 preflop in early position, and Thomas Keller made the call on the button. Their cards:

Illingworth: A 8
Keller: A K

Board: 10 7 6 3 10

Illingworth was eliminated in sixth place after the hand.

Liya Gerasimova Eliminated in Fifth Place ($142,688)

Liya Gerasimova moved all in from the small blind for 180,000, and Fabian Quoss made the call from the big blind. Their cards:

Quoss: 10 10

Board: 9 6 5 8 3

Gerasimova was eliminated on the hand in fifth place, and Quoss grew his stack to 4,570,000.

Mike Sowers Eliminated in Fourth Place ($194,931)

Sowers was eliminated in fourth place, and Quoss increased his large chip lead to 6.4 million.

Thomas Keller Eliminated in Third Place ($280,852)

Thomas Keller limped from the small blind preflop, and Fabian Quoss raised to 240,000 from the small blind. Keller reraised all in, and Quoss made the call. Their cards:

Quoss won the hand to grow his stack to 7,666,000 heading into heads-up play, and Keller was eliminated in second place.

Brian Lemke Wins Event No. 15 ($692,658)

Fabian Quoss moved all in preflop and Brian Lemke called him down. Their cards:

Lemke: A 8

Board: J 10 9 Q Jx

Lemke hit a straight on the turn to win his first gold bracelet and $692,658 in prize money. Quoss was awarded $427,912 for his second-place finish.
