Ray Taylor’s second dealt card on the first hand of play was exposed as the K. Thinking it’s a misdeal, Taylor decided to show his other card, the Q. Mimi Tran and Alec Torelli see the card and Taylor quickly turns it back over. After realizing his mistake, the K is replaced and Taylor is forced to play the hand out as is.
He decided to limp under the gun and Erik Seidel followed behind. Justin Smith called on the button, Alec Torelli completed from the small blind and Pavel Reshetov took the free flop in the big blind.
The flop came out K64 and then one of the players decided to point out that Tran and Torelli had seen Taylor’s other card, but the rest of the hadn’t. Tran and Torelli confirmed they saw the Q and the tournament director ruled Taylor had to show it to the rest of the table.
The hand continued, with the table knowing half of Taylor’s hand, as Torelli checked. Reshetov bet 100,000 and everyone folded to Torelli, who check-raised to 240,000. Reshetov moved all in for his last 484,000 and Torelli called with K7. Amazingly, Reshetov showed K3 for the case king and needed help to stay alive. The turn was the A and the river was the A and Torelli’s seven played, knocking out Reshetov in the first hand of play. Torelli’s stack increased to nearly 2.6 million after the hand.
