Big Hands and Storylines:
Moneymaker Takes One From The Professor
Howard Lederer bet 1,000 on a flop of 1042 and Chris Moneymaker made the call. The K fell on the turn and Lederer bet out 3,500. Moneymaker again made a quick call and the river brought the 5. Lederer slowed down and checked and Moneymaker did the same. Lederer turned over two of his cards - A10, but Moneymaker showed QQ53 for an overpair of queens, and Lederer mucked while Moneymaker raked the pot and climbed up the leaderboard.
Seidel Eliminated By Wrang
After Jannick Wrang raised to 2,000, Erik Seidel re-raised to 10,000. Wrang pushed in enough to put Seidel in and got a call. Seidel was ahead, holding AA3K against Wrang's KQQ10. But the board ran J105109, giving Wrang the straight to eliminate Seidel.
Clements Runs Into Quads
Scott Clements raised his opponent when the board showed J33A, only to have his opponent re-raise all in. Clements held AA27 for aces full of threes, so he quickly made the call. However, he was nearly drawing dead, as his opponent turned over 33Q9 for quad threes. The 8 fell on the river and Clements fell to around 20,000 in chips.
Top Set For Chiu
Daniel Alaei was heads up with David Chiu on a flop of A3J. Chiu bet the pot and Alaei showed 9-8-7-6 as he mucked saying, "Not a good flop." Chiu showed two of his cards in response - AA - for a flopped set of aces, and the table laughed.
