Kent Washington Eliminated
We joined this hand in progress: On a board of 66310, Kent Washington called a 8,800 chip bet from the under-the-gun player. The river brought the 10 and Washington’s opponent bet a bit less this time, throwing out 8,500 into the middle. Washington tanked before calling the bet, which was more than half his remaining stack. His opponent tabled the AA for aces and tens. Washington mucked and was down to just 7,000.
Not too long after Washington moved all in for 6,100 with the K9 and was called by a player who held the A7. Washington failed to improve and was eliminated late on Day 1B.
Jordan Morgan Doubles Up an Opponent
We caught up with the action after Morgan had already mucked and was counting out about 12,000 chips to send over to an opponent who had pocket aces exposed on the felt. Morgan was on the button and apparently doubled up his opponent who was in the small blind. Morgan is now at 20,000 in chips.

We just got the tail of end of the preflop action, but Jonathan Aguiar called the all in of an opponent. Aguiar tabled pocket jacks and his opponent exposed A-Q. Aguiar’s opponent spiked a queen on the flop and the hand held. Aguiar has about 20,000 in chips.
Mark Seif Over Bets the River
We made it to the table in time for a river bet by Mark Seif. On a board of 98436, Seif bet 4,000, about 500 more than the pot, prompting his opponent to go into the tank. Seif’s opponent finally mucked A-K and Seif took the pot to increase his stack fo 13,700.

Somerville Stumbles
Jason Somerville limped in from early position and Christian Klauser raised to 2,700. It folded back to Somerville who made it 6,000 to go. Klauser responded by moving all in for 20,000 and was called by Klauser. They were off to the races when Somerville showed AK and Klauser showed 99.
The flop was 5K7, putting Somerville in the lead, but when the turn was the 10 and the river was the 6, it gave Klauser a flush to win the pot and cripple Somerville to 9,000.
Terrance Chan Doubles Through Jordan Morgan
We caught up with the hand in progress and saw Jordan Morgan tossing in a few more chips and then trying to muck his hand when Terrance Chan showed pocket fives on a board of 9 7 5 4.
The dealer then correctly made sure that the hand was turned up and the table saw Morgan’s J7, giving him a pair of sevens, and no hope for winning the hand. Although we aren’t sure how the money go in, we are sure that Chan now has 18,000, while Morgan slipped to 13,000.
Aguiar Makes Full House and Stacks Chips
After a bit of a raising war preflop between Jon “FatalError” Aguiar and his opponent, they saw a flop of A23. They got the rest of the money in on the flop and Aguiar showed A2 and was ahead of the AJ.
The turn was the A and the river was the K. Aguiar took the pot and shot his stack up to 32,000 while knocking out his opponent.
Shaun Deeb was talking to a friend at the table and said “He doesn’t like to be recognized. Make sure you call him by his online name.”
Andrew Lichtenberger Eliminated
Andrew Lichtenberger open shipped for 2,300 with the 88 and was called by an opponent with the AQ. The flop came KQ10, giving Lichtenberger’s opponent middle pair. The pair of queens held and Lichtenberger was gone.
Eric Baldwin Wins a Nice Pot
Reigning Card Player POY, Eric Baldwin (18,000 in chips), three-bet preflop with the 85. A player in early position made the call and both players saw a flop of J98. Action went check-check. The 5 hit the turn and action went check-check once again. The K fell on the river and Baldwin’s opponent once again checked. This time Baldwin fired out a bet of 4,200 and it was quickly called. Baldwin tabled two pair and his opponent mucked A-K. Baldwin is now at 25,000.

Layne Flack Runs Into Full House and Sent Packing
This hand happened right before the dinner break. Layne Flack held A-5 against his opponents pocket kings on an A K Q flop. Flack raised his opponents bet and got the rest of his money in when another A fell on the turn. The river bricked off for Flack and he was sent home.
Mark Seif Finds a Four
Neil Crilly raised to 900 from under-the-gun and was called by Mark Seif and the player in the small blind. The flop was J89 and after the small blind checked, Crilly bet 2,200 and was met with a raise to 6,000 from Seif. The small blind folded and Crilly shoved for only a few hundred more. Seif made the call and saw the trouble he was in.
Crilly held KK and was way ahead of Seif’s 44. The turn was the Q, but the 4 on the river gave Seif a set and sent Crilly to the rail with a bad beat story.
Seif continued his aggressive preflop play as he three-bet the very next hand and made his opponent lay his hand down. Seif is up to 25,000 in chips and seems to be very confident.
The Master Chops Pot, But Eliminates Opponent
There was some preflop action that led to a player being all in wit two callers, one of them being Men Nguyen. The flop was A98 and both Nguyen and the other player checked. The turn was the 8 and there was a bet of 1,000 which was called by Nguyen.
The river was the K and now the other player in the hand checked and Nguyen bet 3,800. The dealer announced to the other player that the bet was 2,800 and the player called. The pot was chopped as Nguyen showed AJ and the other player had AQ.
“You got lucky,” joked Nguyen. “You would have folded for 3,800.”
The other player assured him he was calling and they moved on to the next hand.
Kent Washington Eliminates a Player
Kent Washington was in the small blind with about 23,000. Action was folded to a player in the cutoff who just limped in. Washington called the additional 150 and the big blind shoved for 4,400. The cutoff quickly folded and Washington went into the tank. He eventually made the call and exposed the 44, which was racing against the A8 of the big blind. The board ran out KK1035, as the fours held up. Washington is healthy with 28,000.
Lee Markholt Doubles Up a Player
Lee Markholt (about 13,000 in chips) called a 3,000 all in from an opponent preflop. Markholt tabled the A9 and was slightly ahead of the KJ of his opponent. Markholt’s opponent turned a king and it held, leaving the poker pro with 10,000 in chips.
Interesting Chop
We caught up with the action on the river here, after an unknown player open shipped with the 98 and was called by the KK of another player. The board at the end was A-2-2-2-2 for quads, ace high. Both players chopped the pot. A player at the table remarked, “you see that once every few years.”
If you are curious about the odds of 98 chopping with pocket kings on a flop of A-2-2 (no diamonds), check out CardPlayer.com’s odds calculator. It turns out that 9-8 chops 0.71% of the time and wins 0.61% of the time.

Shulman Gets Short, Then Busts
After his stack dwindled down to 2,500, Jeff Shulman shoved all in and was called by Jason Mercier. The player in the small blind then moved all-in over the top and Mercier called off the 5,800 left in his stack.

“He definitely wanted to raise before the flop,” said Baldwin to the table. “I don’t know if I get to the flop if he does.”

Mercier thought for a few moments while playing with his chips and eventually tossed in the call. The river was a meaningless 2 and both players checked instantly. The player on the button showed AK and lost to Mercier’s pair of tens with his K10. Mercier’s stack was up to 6,500 after the hand.
Somerville Just Can’t Stop Winning
On the river the board read KQ210K and Jason Somerville had a big stack of big denomination chips out into the middle, well covering his opponent’s 5,000 stack.

Will Failla Flops the Nuts, Busts Two Players
Will Failla limped in the pot with the 109, along with three other players. The flop came QJ8. The big blind bet 300 of his 2,200 stack and a player in middle position with 6,000 called. Failla raised to 1,200, resulting in the initial bettor moving all in. The player caught in the middle called the all in, as did Failla, who couldn’t reraise. The 7 fell on the turn and the guy in middle position moved all in, with a little bit less than Failla, who made the instant call with the stone nuts. The river bricked and Failla knocked out two players to increase his stack to 13,000.
The Maven Stays Alive
After a limper, David “The Maven” Chicotsky moved in his last 1,050 and was called by the player who limped. The limper showed A9 and was slightly behind the 66 of Chicotsky.
