Preparing for the World Series of Poker Final

The main event final table will be the biggest poker tourney I’ll ever be involved in.

I’m really happy to be with the Paddy Power Poker team going into it. They’re a big force in Irish poker and have done a lot for the game. They’ve got a great promotion going on where you can win a package worth over $4,000 to come and watch the November 9 final table live in Vegas.

I’m also playing a cash game every Tuesday night between 8-10 p.m. exclusively on PaddyPowerPoker in their “Eoghan O’Dea Room” – a .50/1 table with a min buy-in of 100bbs. If you manage to bust me you’ll win tokens to the PaddyPowerPoker November 9 Satellites.

I got busted a few times last week in it with 2-7 off-suit being one hand to take me out after there were 5 bets in pre-flop. There’s plenty of action there anyway.

I haven’t really been doing anything to prepare for the final table yet to be honest. I don’t usually play much poker in August, and didn’t again this year. I did a triathlon with John O’ Shea and Donal O’Connor at the end of the summer which was fun, but fairly tough at the same time too.

There was some discussion about what bets we were going to do for it but nothing was gambled in the end. I had a fair edge in the swimming which gave me at least a 5 min head start on the boys. We will do some more in the future I think considering we ended up spending a fortune buying bikes and all the gear for it. The next two months will be a little busier though with _EPT London _in a few weeks and Cannes few weeks after that for WSOPE. I think I’ll play some other smaller tournaments too. The more you play the better I guess, but it’s not something you can hugely prepare for.

It will also be interesting watching some of the hands when they come out on ESPN. I think they’ve started showing some already. Hopefully I can pick some stuff up on the other players.

Don’t forget, you can catch me on the tables every Tuesday night at Paddy Power Poker. Bye for now.
