Poker Domain Name Sells For $100,000

888.com Buys Poker.com.au For “Seriously Exciting New Poker Revolution”

Online gambling site 888.com has bought web domain Poker.com.au for US$100,000 according to Smart Company and will use the address to direct people to “a seriously exciting new poker revolution" which is “coming soon”.

The price however was lower than expected due to restrictive laws on advertising gambling in Australia – last year Poker.ca in Canada sold for $400,000.

One expert told Smart Company that the price could have been 10 times what was paid if gambling advertising were allowed in Australia.
