According to Herald Express news site, This is South Devon, a 29-year-old Englishman has been remanded pending sentencing for stealing $12 million worth of virtual poker chips from American gaming company, Zynga.

Ashley Mitchell, who is from a coastal town in Devon, England, hacked into Zynga Corporation’s system and took 400 billion chips, a third of which prosecutor Gareth Evans said were sold on at £430 per billion.

Mitchell received £53,000 for selling some of the virtual chips on the black market, but Mr.Evans said Zynga was not deprived of goods in the same way as a normal fraud because it could always issue more. However, Evans added, the offense could have a knock-on effect in that the company could lose legitimate online gamers.

Mitchell already has a suspended sentence from 2008 when he was convicted of hacking into the Torbay Council website and altering his personal details.

He now awaits sentencing.
