The top 48 players walked away with prize money and some notable players who cashed in Lima included Team PokerStars pro members Humberto Brenes (47th place — $3,870), Leo Fernandez (46th place — $3,870), and Andre Akkari (43rd place — $3,870).

One member of Team PokerStars pro made it to the final day of the tournament but he was the first player eliminated at the final table, busting in eighth place. Anonymous took home $15,480 in prize money for his deep run in the tournament.

After Anonymous kicked off the eliminations Daniel Ospina was eliminated next in seventh place by Kemal Ferri. That knockout gave Ferri the chip lead with 1.8 million and he held onto that lead until Raul Pino took out Michael Barham in fourth place. The pocket sixes of Pino won a race against the A-Q of Barham and after the hand he increased his stack to 3,485,000.

Ferri fought back and grabbed the chip lead once again when he eliminated Pablo Gonzales in third place. Gonzales was all in preflop with K-Q but Ferri held the lead with A-4. The board ran out 5-3-3-5-6 and Ferri grew his stack to 4.7 million. That gave him a distinct advantage over Pino, who held 2.1 million.

There was a bit of excitement when it looked like things would end when Pino got the last of his chips into the middle with J-8 in the hole on a Q-J-9 flop. Ferri had him dominated with J-9 but the turn and river brought running aces which created a chopped pot and prolonged things a bit longer.

Even with the bail out of the chop, things were still very dire for Pino and his paltry stack of 1.5 million. Ferri was far and away in the lead with 5.3 million and things came to a prompt end when Pino moved all in preflop for 800,000 a short time later with KDiamond Suit 7Diamond Suit in the hole. Ferri made the call with KClub Suit QHeart Suit and the board was dealt 9Spade Suit 6Spade Suit 5Diamond Suit 6Heart Suit 2Club Suit.

Pino was eliminated in second place and he took home $120,000 as the runner up. Ferri was crowned the champion of the event and along with his first tournament title he was awarded $207,400.

The next LAPT event will take place in Rosario, Argentina from June 1-5.
