Sportingbet Makes Offer To Buy Centrebet, Adding To Poker Offering

UK-based online bookmaker and online poker operator Sportingbet plc has made an offer to buy Australian bookmaker Centrbet.

Sportingbet, which owns Paradise Poker, has offer AUD$2 per share for Centrebet which also offers online poker outside of Australia where it is prohibited from doing so.

This is a 25 percent premium to Centrebet’s closing price yesterday (Tuesday may 10) and value the company at around AUD$175 million.

Andrew McIver, chief executive of Sportingbet said, "An acquisition would accelerate Sportingbet’s strategy of increasing its exposure to regulated markets and of geographic diversification.”
