The previous record was held by the Boylepoker.com International Poker Open in 2009 with 1,440.
The new record differs as it had a unique structure which allowed people to buy in more than once on a day other than the one they were initially knocked out on.
The €100 + €20 event created a prize pool of £176,500 of which £32,653 will be awarded to the winner.
Additionally 25 percent of the registration fee, £8,825, has been collected to for charity Marie Curie Cancer care.
