Andrew Peters walked away from the G Casino at The Sandcastle with £72,020 for topping a field of 262 including some of the best of British poker talent in the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Blackpool main event.

The festival ran from Nov. 6-13 culminating in the main event final which certainly lived up to expectations. Players such as Jake Cody, Julian Thew, and Matt Perrins surrounded the felt but it was Peters’ final opponent, Ben Jackson that had most people talking in the end.

Son of Paul Jackson, Ben Jackson won £20,980 for besting a field of 142 in a £500 no-limit hold’em side event and was in flying form heading into the main event. During day 1B the father-son combo took over the leader board with Ben in first and Paul in second. Paul left on day 2 but the junior Jackson kept going until he faced Andy Peters heads up.

Peters held the chip lead but not for long as it exchanged hands many times before Peters could put an end to it. He made his move with pocket jacks and came up against Jackson’s pocket threes which did not improve. Jackson took home £47,820 for his runner-up finish which, added to his side-event winnings, isn’t too far off the first-place prize.

Here are the final-table results and payouts:

1. Andrew Peters £72,020
2. Benjamin Jackson £47,820
3. Mark Physick £31,440
4. Rupinder Bedi £19,000
5. Daniel Corbett £14,150
6. Paul Bracken £11,530
7. Mark Livesey £8,910
8. Jack Ellwood £7,200
9. Adrian Eley £5,240
10. Jamie O’Connor £3,930

The Grand Final is next on the schedule and will take place from Nov. 21 to Dec. 4 at the Grosvenor Victoria Casino. The £2,500 main event will run from Dec. 1-4.
