Denmark Grants Online Poker Licences

888, PokerStars And Betfair Given Licence To Operate Online Poker From January 1

Denmark has published the list of online poker operators who will be allowed to offer their services in the country form January 1.

Thirty-eight operators received a total of 55 licences including 888, PokerStars, Betfair, Betsson, Cryptologic, Danske Spil, Party Poker, Entraction, 24hPoker, Paradise Poker, Mermaid Poker, Red Club Poker, and Unibet.

Yesterday Bet24 and Scandic Bookmakers confirmed they would operate on the Ongame network when the market opens.

Minister of Taxation, Thor Möger Pedersen said, “From January the gambling market will be orderly and we will ensure that holders of a betting and online casino licence to operate on the Danish market also contribute to the society.

“Danes as well as the many associations supported by the gambling market can be joyful.”

Operators who continue to offer their services in Denmark without a licence after January 1, 2012 face having their website or payments blocked the Gambling Authority warned.
