Playtech Poker Revenue Down 20 Percent in 2011

iPoker Sees Year-On-Year Poker Revenue Fall To €21.79 Million in 2011

Poker revenues at Playtech, owner of the iPoker network, slumped 20 percent in 2011 to €21.79 million from €27.41 million in 2010. This mirrors closely the 19 percent drop in poker revenue from 2010 to 2011.

Fourth quarter poker revenue in 2011 fell six percent to €5.5million from €5.9 million in the fourth quarter of 2010.

Compared to the third quarter of 2011 the drop was just two percent indicating a degree of stabilization towards the end of last year.

However overall in 2011 Playtech, which also operates bingo, casino, sports book and games businesses, saw total revenues up 46 percent to €207.5 million from €142.3 million.

Its share of profit from the joint venture William Hill Online also increased 17 percent to €36.1 million in 2011.

Elsewhere the company announced a joint venture with German gaming giant Gauselmann which owns the Merkur brand aimed at taking advantage of the forthcoming regulation in the German market.
