Reuters is reporting that a vote was held in the District of Columbia on Wednesday afternoon local time to repeal plans for Internet gaming in the jurisdiction.

The city council’s Finance Committee reportedly voted 3-2 to undo the law that was passed in December 2010. Questions surrounded the way online gaming was added to an omnibus budget bill without a complete public vetting process.

The main concern, however, was with the underlying lottery contract in the bill.

According to Reuters, the first of two full council votes will be held early next week.

D.C. was first in the nation to legalize online gaming, but since then failed to move toward offering real-money games.
