Ladbrokes Plc, owner of Ladbrokes Poker, saw poker revenue fall 24.5 percent in 2011 to £14.2 million compared to £18.8 million in 2010. This compares to a drop in 2010 of 21 percent.

Active players also declined by 16.2 percent with yield falling 10.5 percent.

The company, which used to sponsor the Poker Million and was a trailblazer in the early days on internet poker, said in its annual report, “Poker continues to be challenging, although the rate of decline slowed significantly in H2. Whilst poker has to date not been a strategic area of focus, we will be working increasingly to address performance throughout 2012.

Ladbrokes plans to launch a poker app in the first half of 2012.

Ladbrokes is one of Europe’s largest bookmakers with a huge retail estate in the UK & Ireland as well as significant online presence. However it has struggled in recent years with the rapid growth of online business and has sought partners to help it catch up.

The company overall say revenue and operating profit stagnate in 2011, the former up 0.4 percent to £983.0 million and the latter down by 0.4 percent to £193.5 million.
