The Bulgarian Parliament has passed a law which will move the country towards regulated online gaming including poker.

Controversially, internet service providers will now be asked to block unlicensed online gaming and poker sites despite protests that this could set a censorship precedent.

Additionally direct advertisements for gambling products and services are also banned.

The government hopes to raise around €50 million in revenue from the move.

There is not yet any indication how licenses will be allocated, the tax regime, or who is expected to apply to operate in the country.
