Allan Peers has won the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour Stockton but won only £11,000 after just 73 players turned up to play the £500+£50 buy in main event.

It was Peers first live tournament. He decided to attend after he gave up tickets to see the FA Cup Semi-Final involving Liverpool.

The total prize pool was just £36,000 – smaller than most GUKPT main event first prizes. Only 10 players got paid even though the event had re-entry for the first six levels.

The poor showing comes after GUKPT Dublin in May was cancelled and replaced with GUKPT Belgium in June.

The final table payouts were:

1: Allan Peers — £11,000
2: Thomas Dunwoodie — £8,000
3: James Marriott — £5,380
4: Mark O’Kane — £3,190
5: Mark James — £2,560
6: Andy Lambert — £1,920
7: CT Law — £1,550
8: Darren Meynell — £1,280
9: David Galo — £1,100
10: Paul Reilly — £520

The next main event takes place at the G Casino in Thanet starting April 27.
