European Poker Tour Grand Final Prize Pool Announced, €1.5 Million To WinnerA Total of 665 Players Entered In Monte Carlo |

Chipleader Nick Yunis
Obviously with payouts like that, this event is still huge, but this year’s turnout is down by just over 3% from the 686 that entered this event in Madrid last year, and down more than 21% from the 848 players that attended this event the last time it was held in Monte Carlo two years ago. There are a number of mitigating factors, but the international effects of poker’s Black Friday and various tax laws between European countries are being cited as the most likely causes of the decline.
The overall leader heading into day 2 is Nick Yunis with 191,700 in chips, and there are plenty of recognizable names toward the top of the counts including David Sands (160,300), Alessio Isaia (139,600), Tristan Clemencon (121,100) and Freddy Deeb (114,600).
