Gov. John KasichOhio Gov. John Kasich’s latest budget proposal forecasts that the state’s four new casinos will only take in $957.7 million for the fiscal year beginning in July, roughly half of the $1.9 billion projected in 2009 when the casinos were approved by voters.

Ohio issues a 33 percent tax on casino revenue, meaning the state is planning on receiving about $320 million in tax revenue, which is split among the state’s counties and school districts.

There are three casinos currently open in Ohio, located in Cleveland, Columbus and Toledo. The fourth, in Cincinnati, is scheduled to open in early March.
