The European Poker Tour Grand Final returns to the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel and Casino Resort in Monaco for the 2013 running of this glamorous and exciting tournament series. This time around the poker festival boasts an impressive 50-event schedule, with a plethora of options, with a variety of games on offer and buy-ins ranging from as low as €220 to as high as €100,000. In 2012, the EPT Grand Final made a major impact on the Card Player Player of the Year race, with massive amounts of POY points and gigantic sums of money awarded, including five payouts of more than $1,000,000.

Mohsin CharaniaThe highlight of the entire affair in 2013 is the €10,600 no-limit hold’em main event, which kicks off with the first of two starting days on Monday, May 6th at noon. The main event will continue until the next EPT Grand Final champion is decided at the final table on May 12th.

Last year Mohsin Charania topped a field of 665 in the main event to earn $1,785,780 and 2,100 POY points. With a $8,796,620 total prize pool, this main event was one of the largest tournaments of the year on 2012, and is sure to prove just as formidable in 2013.

While the marquee main event is the centerpiece of the whole series, there are a number of other events in the schedule that are sure to build massive multi-million euro prize pools. Perhaps the most exciting is the €100,000 no-limit hold’em eight-max super high roller. In 2012 the event drew 38 entrants and 7 re-buys, meaning that eventual champion Justin Bonomo was awarded a €1,640,000 ($2,167,588) payday.

Already 34 players are confirmed for this year’s running of this exciting event, with more than a week before play begins on May 13th. Among those who have committed to play are last year’s runner-up Tobias Reinkemeier, Antonio Esfandiari, Jonathan Duhamel, Daniel Negreanu, Jason Mercier, Vanessa Selbst, Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier, Scott Seiver, Gus Hansen, Isaac Haxton, Erik Seidel and Dan Smith, who won three €5,000 no-limit hold’em events at last year’s EPT Grand Final in the span of a week.

In addition to high roller tournaments, there will also be plenty of cash game action on offer, with games from €2/€5 – €10/€20 and higher, and even a widely circulating rumor of a €1,000,000 buy-in cash game that would be filmed by the EPT. According to PokerStarsBlog, Sam Trickett, Paul Newey, Philipp Gruissem, Isaac Haxton and Niklas Heinecker have indicated that they are interested in taking part in this massive cash game.

If all of this sounds too rich for your blood, but you’re still interested in some high-stakes tournament action, there is also a €25,000 no-limit hold’em eight-max high roller beginning on May 10th and a €10,300 no-limit hold’em turbo high roller that takes place on May 15th.

For those on a smaller bankroll who are still looking for a huge prizepool, look no further than the €500,000 guaranteed Monaco Cup €1,000 buy-in event which begins on May 11th.
