Day 1A of the Card Player Poker Tour Bicycle Casino main event drew a whopping 109 entrants and tournament officials expect an even bigger crowd for the weekend’s day 1B and 1C starting days.
The $1,100 buy-in tournament began at 1 p.m. and lasted until 2:30 a.m. After 12 levels of play, just 29 players remained. Those players will combine with the rest of the field on Monday for day 2.
Leading the way is Ho Shin “Kevin” Lee, who rode an incredible final level to a stack of 305,000. Hot on his heels is Nathan Bjerno with 272,700, Kirill Kruglov with 254,200 and Evgeniy Turevski with 220,200.
Other notables who played day 1A included Dana Kellstrom, Randy Holland, Bobby Suer and David Singontiko. The tournament also featured a little star power when it was discovered that Hollywood actress Sasha Barrese had sat down to play.
Barrese is best known as Tracy Billings, the bride-to-be of the missing Doug in the 2009 mega-hit film The Hangover. Barrese has acted in all three of the Hangover films, the third installment of which opened nation wide this week.
In addition to being an actress and a model, Barrese also enjoys her poker. She has five tournament cashes in just over the past year, including a third-place finish in a prelim event at the 2013 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown series. Unfortunately for her and the rest of her table, she was eliminated about six levels into the day.
