Ninth Annual Arizona State Poker Championship Set For August 9-13

Main Event Will Feature Three Starting Days

This August, battle it out for one of the Western United States’ most prestigious poker titles and a share of a $1 million guaranteed prize pool in the ninth Arizona State Poker Championship.

Registration for the event, held at The Arena Poker Room at Talking Stick Resort, is currently open. Talking Stick Resort, an AAA four-diamond property located in the heart of Scottsdale, Arizona, boasts a 240,000 square foot casino, 36-hole championship golf course and world-class spa.

The tournament buy-in of $1,000+$80 provides 15,000 worth of tournament chips and a deep, 60-minute level structure. Also, for $30 players can purchase an additional $10,000 worth of chips as a staff appreciation. Players who are eliminated on Day 1a or Day 1b are allowed to reenter the following day.

This year, 13-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth will be attending. During his time at Talking Stick Resort, Hellmuth will participate in a meet and greet with VIP players and will join in on the Arizona State Poker Championship on Sunday, two hours after the games commence. If Hellmuth is eliminated early from the tournament he will serve as emcee for its final table on Monday, Aug. 12.

Based on 1,000 entries, first place will take home more than $200,000, plus the championship bracelet and trophy.

The tournament schedule for the event is as follows:

Day 1a: Players start August 9 at 9 a.m.
Day 1b: Players start August 10 at 9 a.m.
Day 1c: Players start August 11 at 9 a.m.
Semi-Finals start August 12 at 9 a.m.
Final day begins at 10 a.m. on August 13 to determine the champion

Last year, Eltorna Gant won the $1,000 championship, beating out 975 other runners, and took home the $233,696 first prize.
