In this Card Player weekly feature we look to provide our readers with a guide to some of the biggest poker events taking place in their area for the upcoming week. FLORIDA
- The 2013 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open (Aug 08, ‘13 – Aug 29, ’13) The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood in Hollywood, FL continues with it’s exciting 33-event series, with this week’s highlight being the kickoff of the gigantic $10,000,000 guaranteed, $5,300 no-limit hold’em championship event, which features three starting days, beginning at noon on August 22 – 24. After registration is closed in this re-entry event, play will continue until a champion is decided on Aug. 28th.
CALIFORNIA
- The 2013 WPT Legends of Poker (Jul 28, ‘13 – Sep 04, ’13) The World Poker Tour has also returned to the Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, CA for it’s 30-event Legends of Poker series. The highlight this week is a $1,100 no-limit hold’em deepstack event that begins on Aug. 24th at 1:00 PM with the first of three starting days. The World Poker Tour $3,700 no-limit hold’em main event will get underway next week, kicking off on Aug. 29th.
NORTHEAST
- The 2013 Sands DeepStack Extravaganza (Aug 16, ‘13 – Aug 26, ’13) The Sands Bethlehem in Pennsylvania continues with it’s 10-event series this week with the centerpiece of the whole affair being the $1,500 no-limit hold’em main event that gets underway on August 24th with two starting flights, one beginning at 11:00 AM and the second at 7:00 PM. Play will continue until a winner is decided on Aug. 26th.
SOUTH
- The 2013 River Poker Series (Aug 14, ‘13 – Sep 01, ’13) The WinStar Casinos in Thackerville, OK continues with its popular River Poker Series this week, with the highlight being a $300,000 guaranteed $1,100 buy-in no-limit hold’em event that begins on Aug. 23rd at noon. The 10-event series features a total of $4 million in guarantees.
- The 2013 Beau Rivage Gulf Coast Poker Championship (Aug 22, ‘13 – Sep 02, ’13) The Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, MS will see it’s 12-event tournament series get underway this week, with the early highlight being the $340 no-limit hold’em kickoff event, which features three starting flights: One at noon on Aug. 23rd, another at 6:00 PM the same day and the third at noon on Aug. 24th.
INTERNATIONAL
- The "2013 WPT Merit Cyprus Classic ":http://www.cardplayer.com/poker-tournaments/4226-2013-merit-cyprus-classic-wpt (Aug 14, ‘13 – Aug 26, ’13) The Merit Crystal Cove Hotel and Casino hosts the first event of the new season of the World Poker Tour as part of it’s 35-event series. The six-day $4,400 WPT no-limit hold’em main event got underway on August 16th, and though registration in that event is now closed, there are still plenty of tournaments on offer including a $10,000 no-limit high roller which gets underway on Aug. 19th at 6:00 PM.
- The 2013 APT Korea (Aug 18, ‘13 – Aug 23, ’13) The Asian Poker Tour continues with it’s 10-event series at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in Jeju, Korea, with the highlight being the $2,700 no-limit hold’em main event that begins on Aug. 20th.
