The first stop of Season II of the Card Player Poker Tour kicked off at bestbet Jacksonville Aug. 29 and will host a series of 14 tournaments through Sept. 9, culminating with a $1,500 no-limit hold’em $300,000 guarantee main event Sept. 6-9.
Here is a look at the results of the first four tournaments:
Event No. 1: No-Limit Hold’em

Vincent Caruso made a trip with his friends from Charleston to play at bestbet and it turned out the trip was well worth it for the soon-to-be groom.
“I feel really great. My buddies and I came down here from Charleston and we have been really fortunate to play and make it,” Caruso said. “I’m getting married soon, so this helps a lot.”
When play was four-handed Caruso was down to just 80,000 with 7.9 million chips in play. He doubled up, then quadrupled up to stay alive and go on to win.
Caruso said he came to bestbet specifically to play event no. 1 but now may stay and play a few more in the CPPT bestbet series.
“I guess I can now, can’t I?” he said.

Wenzel “Tiny” Werner bested a 74-player field to take home the first trophy awarded at CPPT bestbet. (Event no. 1 was still playing out at the time of his win.)
Werner said he has been playing mixed games for over twenty years and entreated the event because he not only loves tournaments which are part of larger tours, but he loves the game of H.O.R.S.E.
“I play a lot of tour tournaments, not a lot of the regular ones,” Werner said. “And I love the mixed games.”
Event No. 3: Omaha Eight-Or-Better

Tim Duecker picked the up the second trophy awarded at CPPT bestbet in event no. 3 and said it felt awesome to take down the tournament.
While he said he plays all the games he particularly enjoys Omaha.
“This one is my favorite,” he said.
Duecker plans to play more CPPT bestbet events and has already won his seat to the $1,500 no-limit hold’em $300,000 guarantee main event via satellite.

The “real Chad Brown” as he calls himself won event no. 4 after besting a field of 149 players. Brown, from Fayetteville, North Carolina, came down to play with friends and plans to come back for more tournaments before the series ends.
“I’ve got a famous name, " he said after his win. “I’ve cashed before here a few times, but now I’ve got bragging rights over all my friends.”
