The first main event of Season II of the Card Player Poker Tour will begin Friday, Sept. 6 at 12 pm EST at bestbet Jacksonville, in Jacksonville, Florida. The $1,500 no-limit hold’em $300,000 guarantee main event will serve as the highlight of the 14-event tournament series marking the beginning of CPPT Season II.
“We enjoy Card Player and our relationship with Card Player, the players have been happy and we look forward to the main event,” Deb Giardina, Vice President of Poker Operations said. “The players have said it has been a well run event and they have enjoyed the tournament series and the action.”
The $300,000 guaranteed prize pool is unique for bestbet.
“This is one of only three major tournaments each year where we offer that sort of guarantee,” Giardina said.
The tournament will feature two day starting days and real-time live updates from the tournament floor. The final table will be live-streamed in its entirety Sept. 9 on CardPlayer.com.
The main event will begin on the heels of 11 preliminary events and two more tournaments will be held in conjunction with the main event for players who have been eliminated or wish to play tournaments with a smaller buy-in.
The series began Aug. 29 with a $350 no-limit hold’em $100,000 guarantee which drew 533 players and beat the guarantee by nearly $60,000. Vincent Caruso of Charleston, South Carolina took home more than $20,000 for winning the kick-off event. William Childs, father of professional poker player Lee Childs, took down event no. 8 ($240 no-limit hold’em) the evening before his birthday.
Moses Clepper made two final tables and picked up three cashes, finishing second in event no. 10 ($240 no-limit hold’em turbo) for $2,000, fourth in event no. 5 ($350 no-limit hold’em with bounties) for $1,392 and 13th in event no. 4 ($240 no-limit hold’em) for $507. Clepper also won a seat into the main event after spinning the bestbet promotions wheel during day 1a of event no. 1.
Husband and wife team Patricia and Bruno Gigante both cashed in event no. 1, with Patricia bubbling the final table for 10th place and $2,398 and Bruno cashing out in 58th place for $640. Armando Cisnero final tabled two events, event no. 1 and event no. 5, finishing ninth and fifth respectively. Jeffrey Trudeau took down event no. 7 ($350 pot-limit Omaha 8 or better) for $5,819 and cashed for 17th place in event no. 1.
Other winners include bestbet regular Wenzel “Tiny” Werner, who won event no. 2 ($240 H.O.R.S.E) and Justin Bold who won event no. 10 ($240 no-limit hold’em turbo).
