It’s very rare for Phil Ivey to do an interview, especially on-camera. However, the “Ivey Poker” brand has just launched a mobile app, and that had the high-stakes gambler talking.

Though he looked tense and a bit uncomfortable, Ivey was able to pitch the product. Ivey Poker already had a Facebook app with around 10,000 active monthly users.

Ivey was once one of the most prominent endorsers of Full Tilt Poker while that poker site was under previous ownership and fell into hot water with the federal government. These days, Ivey has no involvement with Full Tilt other than playing on the software under the screen name “Polarizing”. He is down around $2.5 million this year, according to HighstakesDB.

Ivey Poker, founded in 2012, says on its Facebook page that it “entertains and educates players worldwide.” Some of the top poker pros in the world have signed on to endorse this new venture. They include Patrik Antonius, Jennifer Harman and Greg Merson.

Here’s the video of Ivey’s interview, which was posted to YouTube on Monday.

Ivey, a nine-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner, has been in the news recently thanks to a scandal at a London casino. Ivey won $12.1 million gambling there last year, but the casino refused to pay him. That case is playing out in court, as Ivey recently admitted he played with an edge.
