Season II of the Card Player Poker Tour is underway with one stop complete and a second stop coming up. Take a look at the weekly happenings and the latest news about the CPPT:
Tour Will Stop in West Palm Beach, Florida
The CPPT will next head to Palm Beach Kennel Club in West Palm Beach, Florida for stop No. 2 Dec. 5-16 for a nine-tournament series culminating with a $1,100 no-limit hold’em $250,000 guarantee main event. The schedule will also feature a $345 no-limit hold’em $100,000 guarantee, $30 H.O.R.S.E $10,000 guarantee, $125 no-limit hold’em turbo and $125 no-limit hold’em with bounties as well as satellites to the main event.
The $1,100 main event was chosen instead of a $1,500 main event to accommodate more players.
“We felt the price point is great for this market and will let someone who maybe typically plays a little smaller play as well,” said Poker Room Director Noah Carbone.
Palm Beach Kennel Club is one of the largest multi-table poker rooms in the state of Florida with 64 tables and is home to live greyhound racing and simulcast horse racing.
The property is also home to the Paddock Restaurant, which offers a unique combination of fine dining and entertainment where patrons will find an expansive dining room featuring a view of the racing action. Tabletop televisions are available in addition to overhead monitors and large screen televisions. Other dining options include the Terrace Restaurant, located near the race track’s second floor with sit-down, full-service dining at the finish line as well as a deli, concession stand snacks and fully-stocked bars.
The property is conveniently located near Palm Beach International Airport for easy access for players coming from afar.
Leaderboard Update
Season II began at bestbet Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Florida with a 14-tournament series which culminated with a $1,500 no-limit hold’em $300,000 guarantee main event.
The first title of the season went to Harvey Vandeven, who won the trophy and $76,598. Vandeven made an even chop for the money with Timothy Miles when the heads-up match began and the two currently sit atop the Season II leaderboard for most money earned on the season. With only one stop on the season complete, the rankings will soon change.
With the leaderboard reset the rankings for most cashes, most final tables and most titles on the seson have also changed. However, with only one stop complete multiple players are tied for the top spots in the categories.
Jesus Muniz-Diaz currently leads with two titles and was the only player to win more than one event at bestbet. Muniz-Diaz won event no. 12: $240 all-in or fold with bounties for $1,900 and event no. 6: $240 no-limit hold’em for $3,470. A chop for the title prevented Muniz-Diaz from taking home the trophy in event no. 6, which went to Richard Hartert along with $3,000 in winnings.
Moses Clepper and Pablo Ortiz are tied for the most cashes with three each. Clepper cashed out for $2,000 in event no. 10: $240 no-limit hold’em turbo, $1,392 in event no. 5: $350 no-limit hold’em with bounties and $507 in event no. 4: $240 no-limit hold’em. Ortiz picked up $11,000 in event no. 1: $350 no-limit hold’em $100,00 guarantee, $3,000 from event no. 6: $240 no-limit hold’em and $3,098 from the main event.
At least ten players made two final tables at bestbet Jacksonville, resulting in a 10-way tie on the leaderboard.
Season III Schedule Shaping Up
Currently one stop has been determined for Season III. The Bicycle Casino will host a 30-tournament series in October of 2014 with a $1,100 no-limit hold’em main event.
