The latest edition to the Card Player Poker Tour hall of champions will soon be named when the Card Player Poker Tour Palm Beach Kennel Club $1,100 no-limit $250,000 guarantee main event begins Friday, Dec. 13 at 12 pm EST.

Going by the success of first six tournaments, Poker Room Director Noah Carbone said the main event would likely draw a great turnout.

“Based on the numbers we have seen so far, we will hit the guarantee, it’s just a matter of other competition at other places. But I think we will get most of the South Florida market to come up,” Carbone said. “With all the guys that like to play in that price range, we are drawing from a player pool that is as big as any outside of California, especially at that price point.”

The tournament will play out over four days – two day ones, a play down day and the final table, and will be live-streamed on Card Player. The tournament will also feature live updates including all the action from the floor throughout the duration of play.

The nine-tournament series began Dec. 5 with a $345 no-limit hold’em $100,000 guarantee that drew 405 players and beat the promised prize pool by more than $20,000. The kick-off tournament was eventually won by Jerry Willis, who pocketed upwards of $26,000.

Tyler DensonOther winners through the stop include Tyler Denson, who won event 2: $30 no-limit hold’em with $20 re-buys $10,000 guarantee and came in third behind Jerry Willis and Jeff Charlton in Event 1. Jason Reep, who took down event 3: $125 no-limit hold’em and Ravindra Madala bested a field of 63 players to win event 5: $125 H.O.R.S.E.

With a win and a third-place finish in the second largest tournament of the series, Denson took the early lead in the PBKC sponsored Player of the Series leaderboard which will award an additional $26,000 to the top 10 finishers with $10,000 going to the winner upon the completion of the final tournament.

“So far we are happy with the results. To exceed the $100,000 guarantee by 20 percent was great. Then for event 2 we put a $10,000 guarantee on it and we got a $17,000 prize pool out of it,” Carbone said. “Event 3 we got over 100 players and for a Monday at this time of year those are great numbers. Then we had the H.O.R.S.E and that is always a local favorite, even though we weren’t expecting gigantic numbers for that one.”
