In this Card Player weekly feature we look to provide our readers with a guide to some of the biggest poker events taking place in their area for the upcoming week. INTERNATIONAL
- The 2014 APPT Aussie Millions (Jan 23, ‘14 – Feb 10, ’14) The Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia is set to kick off the 16th annual Aussie Millions, which for the first time will be part of PokerStars Asia-Pacific Poker Tour in 2014. The 20-event series features some of the most exciting tournaments of the year, including a $100,000 AUD no-limit hold’em high roller (Feb 7th at 2:15 PM), a $250,000 AUD super high roller (Feb 9th at 2:30 PM) and of course the $10,600 no-limit hold’em main event (Feb. 2nd – 4th at 2:15 PM). The kickoff event is a $1,100 AUD no-limit hold’em features three starting days beginning on day 1a at 6:15 PM local time.
- The 2014 EPT Deauville (Jan 22, ‘14 – Feb 01, ’14) The Casino Barriere de Deauville in France hosts the next stop on the European Poker Tour’s 10th season, a 45-event series of tournaments spread over ten action-packed days. The highlight of the entire festival is the €5,300 EPT no-limit hold’em main event, which kicks off on Sunday, January 26th with the first of two starting days beginning at noon local time.
CALIFORNIA
- The 2014 WPT L.A. Poker Classic (Jan 17, ‘14 – Mar 06, ’14) The massive 60-event 2014 L.A. Poker Classic tournament series kicked off last week at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles, California. Spanning from late January to to early March, this huge poker festival will feature tournament action for players of every game and at every buy-in level. The highlight of this week is a $1 million guaranteed $150 buy-in no-limit hold’em re-entry event that features 17 starting flights. The event kicked off on Jan. 18th, but there are still 13 flights yet to get underway, with one beginning at 1:00 PM and another at 5:00 PM each day the rest of this week. The survivors of all of these flights will come together next Monday to play down to a champion.
- The 2014 HPT California Thunder Valley (Jan 13, ‘14 – Jan 27, ’14) The Thunder Valley Casino Resort in Lincoln, California kicked off the Heartland Poker Tournine-event tournament series last week, but the highlight of the whole series is undeniably the $1,650 no-limit hold’em main event which kicks off with the first of three staring days on Jan. 23rd at 3:00 PM.
NEVADA
- The 2014 Ultimate Poker $200K Guarantee Series (Jan 19, ‘14 – Jan 26, ’14) The Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa in Las Vegas, NV is hosting an 11-event tournament series through the end of this week, the highlight of which is the $150,000 guaranteed $1,000 no-limit hold’em main event which gets underway with the first of two starting days at noon at 1:00 PM on Jan. 24th.
SOUTH
- The 2014 WSOP Circuit Tunica (Jan 23, ‘14 – Feb 03, ’14) The Harrah’s Tunica in Robinsonville, Mississippi launches it’s 12-event WSOP Circuit series on Jan. 23rd with a series of $365 no-limit hold’em events. The marquee main event doesn’t get underway until Jan. 31st.
