In this Card Player weekly feature we look to provide our readers with a guide to some of the biggest poker events taking place in their area for the upcoming week. INTERNATIONAL
- The 2014 APPT Aussie Millions (Jan 23, ‘14 – Feb 10, ’14) The Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia is set to continue with the 16th annual Aussie Millions, which for the first time is part of the PokerStars Asia-Pacific Poker Tour in 2014. This week’s highlight is the $10,600 no-limit hold’em main event which kicks off on Sunday, Feb. 2nd at 2:15 PM local time with the first of three starting days. (Note: Days 1B and 1C start earlier, at 12:15 PM.)
- The 2014 EPT Deauville (Jan 22, ‘14 – Feb 01, ’14) The Casino Barriere de Deauville in France is in the thick of it’s a 45-event series of tournaments as part of the European Poker Tour’s 10th season. The highlight of the entire festival is the €5,300 EPT no-limit hold’em main event, which kicked off on Sunday, January 26th with the first of two starting days beginning at noon local time. For those looking to play a little higher, there is a also a €10,300 no-limit hold’em eight-max high roller that begins at 1:00 PM local time on Jan. 30th.
CALIFORNIA
- The 2014 WPT L.A. Poker Classic (Jan 17, ‘14 – Mar 06, ’14) The massive 60-event 2014 L.A. Poker Classic tournament series kicked off last week at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles, California. Spanning from late January to to early March, this huge poker festival will feature tournament action for players of every game and at every buy-in level. The highlight of this week is a $350 no-limit hold’em event that sports a $100,000 guarantee. The single-day event kicks off at 1:00 PM local time on Feb. 1st.
NEVADA
- The 2014 Deepstack Extravaganza I (Jan 30, ‘14 – Feb 26, ’14) The Venetian Hotel and Casino Las Vegas is about to launch into the first installment of the 2014 DeepStack Extravaganza tournament series, with the initial offering consisting of 56 events spread throughout the month of February. The series kicks off this week, with the early highlight being a $100,000 guaranteed $400 no-limit hold’em event that begins with the first of two starting days at noon on Jan. 30.
- The 2014 Bellagio $25K High Roller (Feb 01, ’14) The Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada has long been the home to some of the biggest cash games and tournament action in the world. In fact, Bellagio has awarded more than $432,000,000 in tournament payouts in it’s history, the second most of any casino in the world. Bellagio is set to continue in this tradition of high stakes action by hosting a $25,000 buy-in High Roller no-limit hold’em event on Friday, Feb. 1, starting at 2:00 PM PST.
FLORIDA
- The "2014 WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open ":http://www.cardplayer.com/poker-tournaments/4425-2014-lucky-hearts-poker-open-wpt (Jan 29, ‘14 – Feb 11, ’14) The Seminole Casino Coconut Creek in Coconut Creek, Florida hosts the 14-event Lucky Hearts Poker Open starting Jan. 29th, with the kickoff event beginning that day. The $560 no-limit hold’em event features a $300,000 guarantee and five starting flights. Click here for more info on start times. The series’ $1 million guaranteed WPT main event will get underway next week.
SOUTH
- The 2014 WSOP Circuit Tunica (Jan 23, ‘14 – Feb 03, ’14) The Harrah’s Tunica in Robinsonville, Mississippi launched it’s 12-event WSOP Circuit series last week, and is now getting to the centerpiece of the whole affair: The marquee $1,675 no-limit hold’em main event gets underway with the first of two starting days at noon local time on Jan. 31st.
