Poker players of all levels from across the globe will have the opportunity to play alongside – or even beat – World Series of Poker champion Chris Moneymaker this spring. Penn National Gaming’s second season of the Hollywood Poker Open continues with a qualifying event at the all-new Hollywood Casino St. Louis, March 7 – 16, 2014.

It’s non-stop action with 30 events over 10 days at the premier destination for unrivaled gaming with all-new slots, world-class tables, mouthwatering dining, and electrifying nightlife right in the center of it all. Not to mention a luxurious hotel and the always captivating Boogie Nights, the ultimate ’70s and ’80s dance club.

Fresh off an extensive renovation, there’s something new and exciting everywhere you look at the all-new Hollywood Casino St. Louis. Featuring a completely remodeled casino floor, poker room, and so much more, this is the perfect setting for the Hollywood Poker Open qualifiers.

Events will appeal to new and seasoned players alike, including no-limit hold’em, pot-limit Omaha, seniors no-limit hold’em (age 50 & older) and ladies’ no-limit hold’em. A variety of turbo and mega satellite events will qualify players looking for alternative ways to enter the regional qualifying main events.

Regional event winners will receive an official HPO trophy, and the player with the highest point total from feature events will receive an HPO prize package valued at $4,000. That includes a $2,500 entry fee into the HPO Season 2 championship in Las Vegas, plus $1,500 in expense money.

Four more HPO regional qualifying events will take place through May, leading up to the June championship event at the M Resort Spa & Casino in Las Vegas. Moneymaker, the accountant-turned-poker player and one of the most recognizable faces in the sport ten years after his 2003 World Series of Poker win, has signed on to be the first-ever celebrity ambassador for one of the hottest poker tournament series.

Moneymaker will compete in the remaining HPO regional qualifying events and spend time with players and fans. And while he may be sporting an HPO patch, he’ll also be playing for his own shot at cash, a seat in the Las Vegas finals, and a piece of the championship prize pool just like everyone else.

Additional qualifiers will be taking place in February at Tunica, Missisippi, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in Grantville, Pennsylvania, and Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races in West Virginia in March. Hollywood Casino Columbus, Ohio, will hold the final regional in May. The tournament will again culminate with the $500,000 championship event at the Forbes Travel Guide four-star M Resort Spa & Casino in Las Vegas, June 27-29, 2014.

Located on more than 90 acres of elevated land overlooking other resort-casinos on the Las Vegas Strip, the M Resort provides remarkable views of the world-famous Vegas skyline. The resort offers guests nearly 400 hotel rooms and suites, 92,000 square feet of gaming floor, and multiple restaurants and bars with some of the world’s leading chefs at the helm. Other amenities include a state-of-the-art spa and fitness center and a 100,000-square-foot events piazza plus exceptional, world-class personal service.
