The fourth champion of Season II on the Card Player Poker Tour will emerge shortly from the field of the $1,100 no-limit hold’em $125,000 guarantee main event at Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno, Nevada.
The 31-tournament series kicked off March 21 and hosted a wide range of events including no-limit hold’em survivors, Omaha, limit hold’em, win the button and black chip bounty tournaments. The main event will begin Friday at noon PST.
One two-time winner has already emerged from the series. Daniel Chamberlain won the $340 black chip bounty for $2,968 and the $230 no-limit hold’em six-max for $2,794, bringing his lifetime live tournament earnings to just over $200,000.
Other winners from the series include Johnny Knight ($120 Omaha eight-or-better), Daniel Schneider ($340 no-limit hold’em $50,000 gurantee), Sjoeke Lazor ($120 limit hold’em) and John Burr ($230 win the button).
Recent Poker Hall of Fame inductee Tom McEvoy picked up just shy of $4,000 for cashes in three events and said he will take a shot at a CPPT title in the main event.
Vince Burgrio, Howard “Tahoe” Andrew, East Coast pro Mike Borovetz, CPPT Foxwoods champion Ronnie Pease and defending CPPT Atlantis champion John Miner are all expected to make an appearance in the main event as well.
