High-Stakes Online Poker: Viktor 'Isildur1' Blom Drops $1.4 Million This WeekVolatile Grinder Slips Into The Red On The Year |
|
The past seven days on the Internet have been rough for Swedish poker pro Viktor Blom. The Full Tilt Poker sponsored player dropped around $1.4 million, according to data from HighstakesDB.
The losses bring his results on the year to around negative $500,000. He was up more than $2 million in February.
His “Isildur1” account on the software is in the hole nearly $2.2 million lifetime, according to the tracking, which is considered the best in the business.
The largest pot over the past week came at PokerStars, and it was a confrontation between MalACEsia and Alex “Kanu7” Millar. The former is from Macau, while Millar is in the U.K.
The hand occurred at $200-$400 no-limit hold’em and it was six-handed.
The action began with MalACEsia raising to $800 from the button and only Millar called. The flop fell 7 5 2, and Millar checked. MalACEsia checked as well.
The 3 landed on the turn.
Millar elected to check again, and MalACEsia fired $1,200. Millar check-raised to $5,000, and his opponent called. The fireworks were still to come. The river brought the 10.
The Brit led for around $17,000. MalACEsia made it $44,000, and Millar shoved for around $80,000 total. MalACEsia called with the A 4 for a wheel, which he hit on the turn, but was no good against Millar’s 6 4. He raked in the $171,000 pot.
Millar used the hand to record a small win on the week.
The week was also kind to Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond, who won more than $1 million between Saturday and Wednesday. Those profits helped him climb out of the hole for the week, and he ended up a $200,000 winner over the time span. He’s down $540,000 on the year.
Niki Jedlicka was another big winner, capturing close to $1 million this week. Same goes for Alex “PostflopAction” Kostritsyn, who won around $660,000.
While the big action on PokerStars is in no-limit hold’em, on Full Tilt the high-flying action has been in limit games, both in deuce-to-seven triple draw and the eight-game mix.
Gus Hansen, who has been on a historic downswing, pretty much took the week off. His screen name is still down around $17.6 million lifetime on Full Tilt Poker.
Over time, many of the high-stakes online poker pros have opted out of having their long-term results tracked by HighstakesDB, so it’s unfortunately impossible to provide you with an accurate list of the biggest winners and losers on the calendar year.
