One of Iowa’s gambling facilities has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in order to avoid closing this summer, the Sioux City Journal reported.

Belle of Sioux City LP—a subsidiary of Penn National Gaming—filed for Chapter 11 protection earlier this month in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Des Moines.

The group owns the Argosy Sioux City riverboat casino.

The firm asked for an automatic stay or temporary injunction of an Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission order to shut down the casino by July 1.

Penn National is also suing the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission.
