In this Card Player weekly feature we look to provide our readers with a guide to some of the biggest poker events taking place in their area for the upcoming week. SOUTH
- The 2014 Card Player Poker Tour II Choctaw Casino Resort (Jul 17, ‘14 – Aug 04, ’14) The Card Player Poker Tour pulled into Durant, Oklahoma last week for the $1 million-guaranteed CPPT Choctaw Casino Resort series, which features 81 events in total, 39 of which will offer guaranteed prizepools ranging from $5,000 to $200,000. The highlight of this week’s action will be two of the bigger events of the series, a $450 buy-in no-limit $150,000 guaranteed event that begins at noon on Jul. 25th and a $570 buy-in event with a $200,000 guarantee on Jul. 26th at noon. The centerpiece of the whole series will of course be the $500,000 guaranteed $1,620 CPPT main event, which will kick off with the first of two starting days at noon on Aug. 1st.
INTERNATIONAL
- The 2014 LAPT 7 Panama (Jul 23, ‘14 – Jul 27, ’14) The Veneto Hotel in Panama City is set to play host to the latest stop on the Latin American Poker Tour beginning later this week. The highlight of the week is the $1,700 no-limit hold’em main event which gets underway with the first of two starting days beginning at noon on July 23rd. Play continues until a champion is decided at the final table on Jul. 27th.
- The 2014 APPT Beijing Millions (Jul 18, ‘14 – Jul 27, ’14) The Beijing Star Poker Room welcomed the Asia Pacific Poker Tour late last week and continues with top-notch tournament action this week, including several more starting flights in the ¥3,000 no-limit hold’em event. Flights 1D and 1E will begin at 5:00 PM local time on the 24th and the 25th, while flight 1F will kick off at 2:00 on the 26th. Survivors from the opening flights return on the 27th to play down to a winner.
- The 2014 IPT Saint Vincent (Jul 23, ‘14 – Jul 28, ’14) The Italian Poker Tour is hosting a €1,100 no-limit hold’em tournament this week at the beautiful Saint-Vincent Resort & Casino in Northwestern Italy. The event features two starting days, each beginning at 2:00 PM local time on the Jul. 24th and 25th. Play will continue until a champion is crowned at the final table on Jul. 28th.
- The 2014 APT Cambodia (Jul 23, ‘14 – Jul 30, ’14) The Asian Poker Tour makes it’s way to Queenco Casino & Hotel in Sihanoukvile, Cambodia this week for the latest APT stop. The highlight of the week is the $1,100 no-limit hold’em main event, which begins with the first of two starting days at 1:00 PM local time on July 26th.
- The 2014 Genting Poker Series Newcastle (Jul 23, ‘14 – Jul 27, ’14) The Genting Casino in Newcastle upon Tyne, England kicks off a £440 no-limit hold’em event this week. The tournament features three starting days, each starting at 1:00 PM local time on Jul. 23 – 25.
MIDWEST
- The 2014 Denny Crum Poker Open (Jul 23, ‘14 – Aug 02, ’14) The Horseshoe Southern Indiana in Elizabeth, IN is hosting a 21-event tournament series beginning this week. The early highlight is a five-day $230 buy-in no-limit hold’em event at begins with the first of four starting days at noon on Jul. 23rd.
NORTHEAST
- The 2014 Borgata $150K Guarantee Tournament (Jul 27, ’14 – Jul 29, ’14) The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, NJ has a $150,000 guaranteed prize pool event later this week. The $400 buy-in tournament features two starting days, beginning at 11:00 AM local time on July 27 and 28. Survivors from those days will combine on July 29th to play down to a champion.
- The 2014 Summer Slam (Jul 25, ‘14 – Aug 03, ’14) The Seneca Niagara Casino and Hotel in Niagara Falls, NY has an eight-event tournament series beginning this weekend. This week’s main attraction is a $300,000 no-limit hold’em event beginning at 11:00 AM local time on July 26th, but the highlight of the entire series is the $100,000 guaranteed main event which begins on Aug. 1st.
NEVADA
- The 2014 Classic Fun Pot of Gold (Jul 23, ‘14 – Jul 27, ’14) The Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno, NV launches into a nine-event series this week, with a number $200,000 buy-in tournaments including several no-limit hold’em events and an Omaha eight-or-better tournament.
FLORIDA
- The 2014 Little Slick Summer Poker Series (Jul 22, ’14 – Jul 27, ’14) The Seminole Hard Rock Casino Tampa is hosting a $100,000 guaranteed event with a $125 buy-in this week. The tournament features ten starting flights, with two kicking off each day at 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM from July 22 – 26. The survivors from flights A-J will combine on Jul. 27th at noon to play down to champion.
