The Las Vegas Strip’s first Bitcoin ATM has appeared and is operational.

According to the Las Vegas Sun, the new machine is located at 3735 Las Vegas Blvd. South, near the Travelodge just south of Harmon Avenue.

It can convert cash into Bitcoins and vice versa.

“It’s something we see only going to be growing,” Chris McAlary, owner of the new ATM, told the Sun. “I want to be on the forefront of keeping the Las Vegas tourist scene ahead of the curve.”

Currently, Nevada casinos don’t allow the digital currency to be used directly for gambling.

Users of the new ATM on the Strip need their phone number, a PIN number and have to get verified via a palm-print scanner. People can set up a Bitcoin account using the ATM.

In January of this year, Bitcoin made its Las Vegas debut by being accepted by two Downtown Las Vegas casinos. In May, the first Bitcoin ATM appeared inside a casino in Sin City.

This is probably just the beginning.

The Downtown Bitcoin ATM is expected to help allow high rollers from overseas get the funds available to gamble. Las Vegas is increasingly becoming reliant on high-stakes table game action for gaming revenue growth. Slot machine revenue is on the decline.
