Austin LewisCard Player Poker Tour Choctaw is in the books and with the conclusion of the 81-tournament series just across the Texas border in Oklahoma, the CPPT leaderboard holds many changes.

Austin Lewis bested a field of 599 players to win the $1,500 no-limit hold’em main event for $183,025, making him the fifth highest money earner in the tour’s history. With that score, Lewis now sits in the second spot for money won on the season.

With several stops still to go before Season II comes to a close the leaderboard is likely to be shaken up once again, however it is unlikely anyone will knock Patrick Clarke out of the running. The Irishman won $276,380 when he took down the Irish Open in April, making him the top money earner on the season. Only Card Player’s own Allyn Jaffrey Shulman, whose winnings total over $303,000 on the all-time money list, bests Clarke.

Former Choctaw champion Mohammad Arani was one of the highest earners from Season I, taking home $220, 625 for his main event win in August of 2013. This time around Arani was eliminated as the 14th place finisher in the main event for $11,138 and now sits in fourth on the all-time money list.

Chris Tryba, who finished runner-up at CPPT Foxwoods back in February, cashed out for $3,399 as the 41st place main event finisher and brought his CPPT Season II winnings to $94,595. Tryba sits behind Ronnie Pease, who won the CPPT Foxwoods event, by a mere $950 for money won on the season.

Trent SmithWhen the series kicked off July 17 no player had tallied more than three final tables in the six stops prior to Choctaw, however that all changed when Wistar Holt, Chan Pelton and Henry bush sat down at the tables. When the final tournament wrapped up August 4, each of the three men had made four final tables, bringing them into a three-way tie for most final tables made on the season.

Trent Smith joined the list of players with multiple titles after he took down two preliminary events, joining Jesus Muniz, Daniel Chamberlain, Michael Vonada and Matthew Oswalt in a five-way tie for the most first place finishes.

Prior to Choctaw, Moses Clepper, who played both series held at bestbet Jacksonville in Florida, was the lone player to reach five cashes on the season. Smith and Pelton were able to tally five cashes each at Choctaw and the three players now sit in a three-way tie for most cashes on the season.

Next, the CPPT will stop at the Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, Calif. September 21 through October 15 and then hit Hollywood Park Casino in Inglewood, Calif. October 17 through 26.
