SLS Las Vegas, formerly the Sahara, will open tonight at midnight.

“Style, Luxury, Service,” is what SLS stands for, in case you were wondering.

The site, once home to the iconic Sahara, which was open from 1952 to 2011, fell victim to the financial crisis of 2008. A handful of years later, there is new hope.

The firms that acquired the once financially troubled property are Los Angeles-based SBE Entertainment and San Francisco-based Stockbridge Capital Group.

The casino will have more than 1,600 hotel rooms, 30,000 square feet of convention space and 80,000 square feet of casino gaming space. There will be 80 table games and 800 slots, the latter of which are the main moneymaker in the Silver State. Around 60 percent of gaming revenue comes from coin-operated devices, also known as slots.

A total of $415 million was spent on the renovation.

According to the Associated Press, SLS owners say they received 117,000 applications for their 3,400 positions. Las Vegas’ unemployment rate was 7.6 percent as of April.
