A proposed bill in Singapore contains language that could mean jail time for poker players caught grinding on an unauthorized site, news.asiaone.com reported.

The bill was introduced this week and is incredibly far-reaching.

The most striking component to the idea is that online gamblers themselves could be subjected to up to six months behind bars or a $5,000 fine.

Those running or promoting the unauthorized sites would be hit with stiffer penalties.

Simply inviting someone under 21 to gamble online could get you six years in jail.

The bill could also result in access to unauthorized offshore sites being blocked.

In a strange twist, the proposal calls for Singapore-based gambling operators to dabble in online gaming, but it cannot be for profit. Singapore probably would only allow online wagering on sports and “numbers,” the report said.

Also, according to the report, experts believe that Singapore, if it passed the bill, could have one of the toughest legal stances on online poker in the world.

It is estimated that Singaporeans will spend $416 million this year on online gambling.
