Online Poker: Patrik Antonius Gives Back $500KFinnish Pro Still Up $1.75 Million On The Year Despite Rare Downswing |
|
Finnish poker pro Patrik “FinddaGrind” Antonius, online poker’s biggest winner in history, had a rough past seven days on the Full Tilt Poker software.
According to HighstakesDB, Antonius dropped nearly $500,000 over the course of the week, which might sound like a ton of money, but it’s really just a bump in the road for the poker legend. He’s up roughly $1.75 million this year still. He rarely goes on downswings.
Here’s a look at Antonius’ 2014 HighstakesDB graph:
Niklas “ragen70” Heinecker, who was last year’s biggest winner with around $6 million in profits, had a great week winning $275,000. He did well in a deuce-to-seven triple draw session early in the week. Heinecker has been pretty quiet this year on the virtual felt.
The German opted out of having his long-term results tracked on HighstakesDB, an option that has been increasingly exercised by members of the high-stakes online poker community.
The largest pot of the past week online pitted Antonius against Dan “jungleman12” Cates. The pair were playing heads-up at $300-$600 pot-limit Omaha.
Cates and Antonius each put in around $10,000 preflop and say a flop of Q 7 2.
Cates checked, Antonius bet the pot and Cates shoved for about $50,000 total. Antonius called with the K Q 10 9 and was up against the A K 10 6 of the American.
The pair elected to run it twice, and the first run-out brought the J and the 3 (a win for Antonius) and the second run-out was the 8 2 (a win for Cates). The pot was chopped.
Cates is chasing Antonius for the top spot on the all-time money list.
