Vikaas SharmaAnother day, another leader.

Day 1b of the Card Player Poker Tour Bicycle Casino main event is done and Vikaas Sharma leads the remaining 30 players with 297,000

Sharma rose to the lead towards the end of the day at a stacked table. All four top stacks from day 1b spent the last few levels of play at Sharma’s table.

While they topped today’s field, day 1a’s Ken Tipton still has the overall chiplead with 319,000.

David Banerjee finished second in chips with 235,000 while Mark Tippman rounds off the top three with 225,000

Banerjee is no stranger to having a large stack at the Bike. Banerjeee won the Mega Millions VIII earlier this year for $141,150.

A total of 59 players have now made it to day 2, including Joseph Christman, James Mordue and Sasha Barrese.

Barrese, who played the role of Tracy in the Hangover Trilogy, has had her best poker year so far. Barrese got her first World Poker Tour and World Series of Poker cash earlier this year and will be looking to add a CPPT cash to her resume.

Today’s survivors came from a slightly bigger field as well. Day 1b saw 134 players while only 133 signed up for day 1a.

While there were a number of survivors, nearly 80 percent of the field was eliminated during the 14 levels of play. Barry Shulman, Allyn Shulman, Matt Salsberg, Meslissa Burr and Melanie Weisner all took a seat today but failed to survive.

Barry Shulman was near the top of the leaderboard at dinner but was eliminated late in the day when his pocket sevens ran into pocket queens. It was a role-reversal from day 1a, when Allyn Shulman made it to the final levels of play while Barry hit the rail early on.

Barry is in the hunt for his first CPPT title while Allyn is hoping to become the first player to win two CPPTs. Allyn won the $5,000 no-limit hold’em Venetian main event last year for $293,000 and is looking for a repeat performance.

In addition to the Shulmans, Salsberg and Weisner also fired a second bullet today while Burr took her one-and-only shot at the CPPT title.

They’ll all have another shot tomorrow though as they can all re-buy in day 1c. Even those who already made it to day 2 can play tomorrow, but only their largest stack will make it through the day.

Day 1c tomorrow starts Monday Oct. 13th at noon. If you can’t make it to the Bicycle Casino in person, check out all the live updates right here at Card Player.
