Jason Mercier topped a field of 15 total entries to emerge victorious in the 2014 World Poker Tour Alpha8 St. Kitts $100,000 super high roller no-limit hold’em main event. For the win Mercier earned $727,500 and his 19th career tournament title. With this latest score he increased his lifetime live tournament earnings to $13,456,326 and climbed into tenth place on the all time live tournament earnings list.
In addition to the title and the money the 28-year-old pro also earned 600 Card Player Player of the Year points. This was Mercier’s sixth final table finish of the year, having finished runner-up in a $100,000 super high roller at the Bellagio for $1,622,181 and second in the EPT Barcelona €10,300 no-limit high roller for another $623,682. This was Mercier’s first title of the year, however, and it was enough to catapult him into seventh place in the overall standings with 3,706 total points and year-to-date earnings of $3,506,084.
Mercier topped a small but tough field in this event, outlasting the likes of current POY race leader Daniel Colman, Antonio Esfandiari and Olivier Busquet. In the end he defeated Kathy Lehne heads-up for the title. Lehne was the first female player to ever enter a WPT Alpha8 event and thus became the first to make the money with her strong showing. In the final hand the board read QQ

Lehne moved all-in for 430,000 total with the 108
