Fred Paradis dominated a field of 282 players over three days to win the Card Player Poker Tour Foxwoods $1,650 no-limit hold’em main event for his largest live score throughout his seven-year career.

A regular in the Northeast card rooms and dubbed a ‘hometown hero’ by those who frequent the poker room at Foxwoods, Paradis took home $81,528 and the title of CPPT champion.

Paradis ended day 2 as the chip leader, but did not hold that spot throughout the day 3. He played through a series of highs and lows and when three-handed play got underway between him, third place finisher PJ Caruso and runner-up Dilipkumar Patel, Paradis was the short-stack.

“I started off with a tough seat because the four best players at the table were on my left,” Paradis said. “One guy just kept spewing every time and I jammed on him once with jack-high, I flopped a gutter-ball and two overs and he folded. That is how I started building my chipstack three-handed.”

After Caruso’s elimination, the tournament looked like it would come to a quick end when Paradis had a massive lead over Patel and moved all-in. Patel called but ended up winning the hand and a few hands later, their stacks were even.

“I’ve been there several times before and it’s just one hand at a time,” Paradis said. “There are a lot of swings in tournament poker, and cash games too. I’m used to it. Just wait and be patient and pick the spots.”

And pick his spots he did. Only a short time would pass before Paradis had regained a sizable lead and when the time was right, he called Dilipkumar’s all-in. Paradis tabled ASpade Suit7Spade Suit to Patel’s KClub Suit3Club Suit. The board ran out AClub Suit8Diamond Suit3Diamond SuitJHeart SuitQ Diamond Suitand Paradis secured the title.

With this win Paradis now has six career titles and over $426,000 in live tournament earnings.

A regular at Foxwoods, Paradis can be found playing $20-$40 limit hold’em or $5-$10 no-limit hold’em when he is not in tournaments.
